The Birds III Silence settled heavily over the room, suffocating the stoic gundam boys. One of whom couldn’t take it any longer. “Why won’t someone say something?” Quatre pleaded. “ What the hell….” “ You said that already.” Five boys resumed their vigilance on the porch, their hesitant eyes glancing ever so often at the birds littering their stoop. Wufei coughed nervously. “ Yuy, where’s Maxwell?” Heero’s head snapped up as he remembered the braided pilot. “ He’s somewhere out there. He was gathering firewood, and then I heard a shot.” “Ninmu Ryoukai.” Trowa sweatdroped as a familiar gleam graced to the cobalt gaze. “ So I’m assuming we’re going to split up, and run around the woods looking for Duo.” “Hai.” “Kuso!” Wufei let out a muffled curse,” I knew my vacation would be spent chasing that baka!” ````````````````````````````````````````````````````` Ten minutes later found the gundam boys separated throughout the woods, the night darker than ever. Quatre struggled through the underbrush, cuts and abrasions lining his legs. < I knew I should of wore pants. Damn these khakis! > Suddenly Quatre froze, feeling a strange tightening in his chest. A clicking sound started right behind his ear and he turned abruptly, only to be pulled to the ground by a rush of black feathers. “AHHHHHH!” ````````````````````````````````````````````````````` Trowa paused in his climb, head titled to the side in concentration. < Did I hear something? > After a moment of silence, he shook his head and resumed his climb, up and up the tree. His plan was, as the case might be, to spot Duo from the heights of the trees, therefore getting home in time for a little nooky with Quatre. It wasn’t working exactly according to plan, however, since the tree seemed to be moving a great deal more than a tree should. Sighing a frustrated sigh, he turned around to look at the moon or where it was supposed to be , and seeing nothin but the wing span of a great bird. “Hn.” Trowa and the bird gazed at each other stoic like, neither one wanting to be shown up by the other. Five minutes passed along slowly and Trowa sweatdroped at the realization that this bird had been stoic with the best of them. Finally, though, after long and weary battle, the bird broke gaze with Trowa to preen it’s feathers in embarrassment. Trowa let out a little smile, until he saw a second bird settle gently on his branch, no more than a foot from his face. Trowa sweatdropped. ````````````````````````````````````````````````````` “Where’s the justice!!” Loud stomping and yelling could be heard throughout the forest as Wufei hurried on in his search to find Maxwell. His belly rumbled at him in hunger and he cursed himself, the world, but most of all…Maxwell. “ Wait til I get my hand on that braid of his…Like a woman! A braid just like a woman!” Lost in his thoughts and heated by his anger, he barely noticed the chill of the wind that suddenly rushed throughout the trees. He stopped suddenly, silence reigned except for the sound of the wind, but then broke down as a new noise filled the area. The sound of wings. Wufei opened his mouth in indignation then closed it up just as tightly as he saw the visage of a bird carving into the tree in front of him. J-U-S-T-I- “NOOOOO!!!!” ````````````````````````````````````````````````````` Heero rubbed his thumb over his gun again and again as he walked silently through the woods. The thought of the braided pilot he had fought so hard to have could be hurt was a hard pill to swallow. His eyes narrowed as he went over his options. It couldn’t be OZ, dead birds on their porch? Na, not their style. It had to be some kind of civilian prankster out for a good laugh. Heero smirked, well civilian prankster or not he’s gonna be in for a hell of a good laugh….his. “Bwahaha…” “Heero! Get off me!” Heero looked down in a daze to see Duo on the ground a gun clutched in one hand while the other struggled to get his hair out from under Heero’s foot. “Hn.” Where the hell have you been man! They’re everywhere!” Heero took in Duo’s feverish gaze and pat him on the back,” It’s okay Duo, it’s just some pranksters…” “No!” Duo wrenched himself from Heero’s grasp,” It’s not okay! It’s the birds Heero the birds! They’re out to get me! My hair Heero my…” Slap! Heero winced as Duo dropped to the ground like a rock. Slugging him over his shoulder he carried the deranged boy back to the cabin. ````````````````````````````````````````````````````` “EVERYBODY RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!” Wufei, Trowa, Quatre, and Heero ( with a Duo on his back) came crashing through the trees running for their lives to get to the cabin. Behind their backs a flock, no a swarm of birds descended on them trying, it seemed, to carry them away. Quatre hung on to Trowa in fright and Wufei swung his sword around and around, yelling to the top of his lungs. The door slammed as they made it into the house, and then there was silence. Quatre heaved a deep breath and let out a shaky sigh. Wufei burst out laughing, leaning on his sword in exhaustion. Trowa stared at the door in disbelief, and Heero glanced down at Duo in worry. Duo let out a groan. And all hell broke lose. To Be Continued…
